1200 hp - 8 injectors, 16 injectors, or 8 injectors + meth?
Hey guys, I'm looking at my fueling options for a 1200 hp 434 LSx with a pair of 78's. (The reason for the twins is because this is in a heavy vehicle...a GMC 2500 ECSB 4x4)
It seems that for 8 injectors I'll need 120 lb/hr injectors. However, this is also a street driven (not quite a daily driver, but close) vehicle, so I'm concerned if 120's are ok for that.
The second option would be 16 injectors. But, here's my issues with that: $3k intake, $2k XFI, plus injectors, fuel rails, etc get it darn close to $7-8k; PLUS I can't use my stock gauges with the XFI, so now I've gotta add the cost of gauges. Seems like from a cost-is-no-issue standpoint this might be the way to go...however, cost IS an issue; so unless this is REALLY the best option, I'd prefer to do something else.
Third option would be 8 smaller injectors in the 85-100 lb/hr range with a meth kit. Seems like this option give me the best "low power" street manners while still having the ability to fuel the full 1200 hp load. However, meth kits have always seemed like somewhat of a "bandaid" to me. Plus, I've had several nitrous cars in the past and I just don't like the bottle running out. I suppose if I could use windshield washer fluid or something else very readily available it wouldn't be so bad...but 100% meth would kind of be a pain, I think.
So...here's the question: You guys out there with "big power", what would be your recommendation and why? Is there another option besides the three above?

Although I'm not running them myself, several injectors were released rather recently that tout big time flow and very good low rpm drivability. They are high impedance to boot! I'd do some searching in the Fueling section and you will find them no problem.

id have to say 8 injectors...16 like you stated adds up rather quickly...8 injectors plus meth sounds like your going to have to rely on it constantly and i dont think thats a very good idea...if the meth pump has a slip up that could cause you your motor...no 8 injectors and have meth for special occasions would be ok too

go with Lonnie he knows his stuff, and 8 injectors will be the way to go,
a good methanol injection system with two 15 gal per hour nozzles making up about 20% of your fuel system will be good

If you have the money run the 16 injector setup. You can buy a 16 injector bs3 box for $3200ish and it'll run the stock gauges. The intake conversion is around $900 with the fuel rails. There's other options out there as well, but from what you're looking to do I'd run a -10 feed and high z 160s or 220s.
