Question Th400 vs th200-r4?

I know Noah probably did the 1st TH400 rebuild for the ARK.

Is the TH200-R4 as robust as the TH400?

No. The TH400 is MUCH stronger than the 200-4R. The 200 has been used for years by the buick GN guys with some luck. BUT the real fast cars are all going TH400 in the end.

Saw your company's AD in GMHTP very classy and impressive!

Do you suggest the Gear Vendors OD/UD for the TH400?

It would be cheaper to go to an 80E....the GV alone is about the price of another transmission. And you would have lockup too.

In stock form, the 400 is much stronger. I'm running a 200r4 i built myself behind a 454 chevelle that runs mid 12's and lots of street driving. I have about $1400 in parts and a $600 converter. I wanted lower crusin rpms and less noise while crusin. It was worth every bit of it. I would advise a custom built 4 speed whichever you choose, you enjoy your ride much more.
