using 3/4" bolts with 3/8" header flange?
I ordered ARP bolts part number: 100-1201. These are 12 point 3/8" bolts with 3/4" threads. are these going to work or do I NEED to get 1 inch bolts? the headers are the ebay LPP copies with a 3/8 flange. I'm considering safety wiring the bolts, so will this be at least good enough until I can get 1 inch locking bolts shipped? or if I wire them do i even need the 1 inchers? auto parts store up here in canada wants $93 for the set screw type locking bolts... not quite in my budget range.

well if i get new bolts I would like to order locking bolts just to be safe. However the headers on going on wednesday/thursday one way or another so should I take what ever 1" bolt I can find locally or are the 3/4" bolts gonna get me by till i cant have the locking ones shipped? The option of just driving down the road and getting arp bolts isnt realistic for me.

I wouldnt bother with the locking header bolts. They are a pain in the *** to work with. I spent the money on them and ended up just using the factory bolts my pacesetters came with. After one heat cycle, i never had to tighten them again, and i check them every oil change

Much less chance of stripping the threads in the head going with a 1" over 3/4". Plus more grip, less chance of them backing out. I used 1" ARP's with my SLP mids and they rarely ever need tightening, no locks.

I'm not sure what major fastener chains are in Canada but I used Stainless Steel 3/8-16 X 1 Socket Head Cap Screws from Fastenal and they worked great. Had them in since 03 and after the first few heat cycles and tightening them they never backed out. Price was cheap too, around $30 total. I also like the socket heads over the hex as well.

I originally bought arp 3/4" header bolts for my eBay headers. They'll work but did not grab enough meat to where I felt comfortable. So I snatched my dads stage 8 1" locking bolts cause I was to impatient to order 1" arp's. The stage 8's are nice and I've never had to retighten them, but what a PITA! Get some 1" IMO.

What worked out really well for me is those open end wrenches with the ratcheting closed end. I used a 5/16 ratcheting wrench and had a few different lengths of allen wrenches. I went to the hardware store and purchased 5/16 allen wrenches individually and cut the 90 degree portion off and cut them to a few different lengths. This allowed me slide the ratcheting wrench over the allen hex and use the wrench to drive the allen to tighten the bolts. I was able to get them much tighter this way and easier due to the ratcheting wrench having a much shorter stroke.

donno the part number. 3/8 - 16 x 1" Hex socket cap screws is wut you need. in hind sight i would strongly recommend that you do not use allen head type bolts. it made things much more difficult for me.
