Default Think I Might Have Screwed Up.... NEED HELP!!!

My car is a 2000 T/A. Today i installed a set of Pacesetter Headers. I was told that the EGR system could be deleted by putting plates over the header connection and by making a plate to fit over the intake where the EGR goes in. Now I wonder if I might have screwed something up because the car really doesnt want to idle right, and sometimes it is hard to crank.

Could someone please help me on this subject.

Do I need to have it tuned ASAP, or will it last me for the week of normal driving. I am getting it tuned on Friday but I dont want to mess anything up.

Thanks ahead of time guys!!

Go to AutoZone or anywheres and get rubber freeze plug, dont remember the size, try a search on here, sounds like you have a manifold leak.

do you have a hissing noise under the hood?

My first guess would be a vacuum leak, and a second guess would be that you might have plugged the o2 sensors in wrong. Make sure you plug the FRONT sensors into the collectors of the headers and sim the BACK sensors. You probably need extensions to get the front o2's down to the collector fitting. If you already know all this, and did things right, then its probably a vacuum leak.

Thanks guys that really makes me feel better.Ill do the freeze plug thing,I made a plate to block off the intake but ill try the other. Also the passenger front o2 was crossthreaded so i used the rear o2 for the front.Do you think that could be it?Im not for sure and my ''good help'' had been just a little to much booze.

Switching the O2's is fine no problem.
Just make sure no large vacuum leaks exsist from !EGR as everyone's said.

okay tonight the car started up great, (still havent gotten the freeze plug but will in the morning). But after i drove it for just a little while it wouldnt crank back up. let it sit for a second and finally it fired off. I noticed when it started a hiss under the hood, so obviously i have a vacuum leak.

from the responses above im taking it that the vacuum leak is what is making my car not want to start??

problem still there. got a freeze plug but it didnt fix the problem. I have listened good in the engine compartment but i do not hear any vacuum leak. I thought i heard it before but i guess i didnt.

The car is running lean... so i am thinking that maybe the computer is trying to make it run rich and is saturating the plugs. Thinking this because it starts fine at first but after it runs for a second it doesnt.

The exhaust I have is an X-pipe with Borla bullet style mufflers.

What exactly does the front 02 sensors read, i have heard that they read backpressure..... and i really dont have much. Could this be causing my problem??

Thanks again

If you remove EGR, don't you have to tune to delete the EGR?
I know I read it somewhere, but not sure where.

EGR does indeed modify the air fuel ratio a little bit by refeeding crap into the intake.

so there are some expecatations from the ecu that it is working.

i just got a tune with the install, and no problems.

did ya have to notch your kmember and **** with the ORY much?
