Default everything for cam?

Ok I am new to posting on this site but I've been reading here for a while.
So anyway, I have a 2001 SS with long tube headers, 160 thermo and some suspension mods. I am going to install a cam very soon, I only have 40 thousand on my car. My question is can I save 3-400 bucks by NOT installing a new chain and ported oil pump, or should I install them as "cheap" insurance on an expensive motor.

depends on the mileage and the size of the cam
