no there isnt any tests. They may check your vision though. The costs just went up for all licenses and the new FL DL are I.D verified...
you will need to bring alot more documents then before....

Vision test is a given. I never pass,go to eye doctor to prove its as good as it gets.
Ive had CDL since its inception(before that it was a chauffeurs license). Its been so long ago since I renewed I couldnt remember if there was a sign test or something like that.

correct on the vision test and yes i did have to take sign test. plus the amount of documentation you need to bring is insane for a simple florida renewal. i had to go back twice because i dint have either the actual or a "certified" copy of my birth certificate. no simple photo copys

DONE! first time,in and out no appointment, less than 2 hrs.
First hurdle was the receptionist looks over papers, said my BC wasnt valid because it had no stamp.I explained it was the original not a photo copy, guy said I needed an extension so put me in next line.
I then get past the BC hurdle(lady took it to supervisor for approval)then on to the vision test......I didnt pass in one eye(no surprise) she said I needed to go to eye doctor.
I told her I already have provisions for that, just look at restrictions.
5 minutes later I had a license and she even apologized for making the mistake on the vision.Good for another 8 yrs......it helps to have a safe driver endorsement.

my last job had company supplied vehicles and needed CDL for the large equipment.
Only one that had a bad license was bosses son(go figure),one guy got a couple tickets
and they took company vehicle away.Well that job is gone for all of us,company folded after 85 yrs.
