installed built tranny and different converter, now shifts 500 rpms sooner??
I sent my tranny to Rossler, and sent the PI VIG 2800 single disc to PI. Got the tranny back, got the upgrade to a new multidisc 3400 stall. Now at WOT, it seems to shift about 500-600 rpm sooner (used to be 6600-6700 and now is 6100). I didnt change any computer things, BUT I did install 30lb SVO injectors, Walboro intank, hotwire kit, volt blaster, etc. THe car is super rich and set codes for rich Bank 1 and Bank 2 (no wonder). It idles like ****, and then runs fine when warmed up.
Why would the car shift at different RPM with the converter change being the only significant thing. I thought the computer controlled the transmission totally, and that it was rpm based.
I only drove it 150 miles to break in the converter and then hammered on it 3-4 times. COuld it be something that will "adjust" itself with time? Doesn't really matter since I am getting complete dyno tuning in a couple of months.
any input?

Its the big/badass one that was $2695 plus deep pan, shipping, and some hard parts (mine was hurting)...$3771.xx total for the trans (and that is using my core). It shifts firm and perfect at anything over half throttle,,,at low speed it shifts harder and the converter locks up very firmly. I have had Rossler tranny's since 1990, absolutely love them and worth the price. I could have picked up a slightly used FLP or other namne brand 4L60E for about $1800 with converter and I passed. That is how mch faith I have in Rossler's products.

My transmission is at Rosslers getting rebuilt right now. I went with the $2695 package and the truck pan also. Did you go with the 4L65E input shaft? I am Carls a great guy i cant wait. You just cant beat the price on refreshing it down the road. With those injectors untuned i would think the car would be running like ****. I would post this in the tuning section I would bet its strickly a tuning issue.

no on the 4l65e output shaft, didnt see the need, I will probably only be on DRs and wont stress hte input shaft that much. I may go ahead and get it tuned before I put on the bottle, like in a week or two. Hate to drive it when it is this rich.
Rossler makes the best autos period...it seems like more and more LS1 people ar finding this out. LPE has used them exclusively for more than 12 years that I know of, and Cartech guys are using them alot, etc.

Your car could be shifting early for a several possible reasons.
1) wacked tuning (your LTRIMs are probably pegged)
2) your built tranny shifts faster than stock so it needs less lead time than stock to shift
3) looser stall is allowing your revs to build faster and is confusing the computer.
You need to fix the tuning; fuel washing down your rings at idle isn't what GM intended and then you can deal with the shift points.
