low mph question for the bolt on guys
I went to the local 1/8 mile track sunday and ran a 8.09@83.5 with a 1.73 60ft...I ran about 6 times and the mph was all in the 83 mph range....why is my mph so low? I ran 82.8 mph bone stock! my mods are in my sig....I mean I have almost all the bolt ons....most of the guys on this site with my mods run 87-89 mph in the 1/8 what gives???

First I'd like to say your getting a very good ET for that mph. Other than the obvious track elevation & weather question, what rpm is your A4 programmed to shift at? You would be suprised what a difference in mph can be seen by as little as 100 rpm shifting too early would make. Fred

With Timing and fuel you should gain anywhere from 8 to 20 hp, you will see an mph increase. remember A4s dont normally trap high mph . Your car is a 98 you might be suffering the knock retard that is well known in the 98 cars.

If your still running the stock settings in the pcm then you should raise your shift points 100 rpms as well now that you got the LT's. Don't knock it until you try it, Fred

I have all the bolt ons & 3.73. Run 8 @ 83 w/ a 1.9 60'. Tuning could certainly help but the key for bolt on cars & speed is weight reduction & a lot of it. Need to do that myself.
Your et's are very good. 12.5 in the 1/4 which is certainly respectable for bolt on car. Just stay w/ it.
Peace,
WG
