Question 99TA alarm keeps going off when doors unlocked

Why does it do this, and what can I do to make the alarm not sound when I unlock. It happens when I use the key fob or unlock each door. Driving me nuts.

i found mine did that if i locked it with the interior door lock button then got out and shut the doors,,,, and later came back and used the key in the door to unlock, id set it off everytime. so i had to always unlock with the keyfob if i used the lock button on the door. What about if you re program your remote... does it still do it?

check your owners manual for the reason it goes off when using the key or manually locking... depending on the settings you/factory it has in its memory, when you use your key to unlock the door, you have 8 SECONDS to get the key in the ignition, or the alarm will sound.. on that note, mine has some bugs too, but that is one major reason..

my aftermarket alarm has the same issue now. Does anyone have a fix for it besides a reinstall?

Having the alarm sound when the door is unlocked with the key is by design and not a problem with the alarm. The alarm (factory or aftermarket) has no way to distinguish between manually unlocking using the key and someone using a slim jim to pop the lock. If the alarm is set, the only way to disarm it is to use the key fob remote or (if programmed with a driver's door delay) get in and turn the ignition on with the proper key.

Mine does the same thing, very annoying. You can reprogram the alarm but I think the alarm ties into the BCM through the head unit or amp. Because it is supposed to make a ding nose when cycling thought the options of the alarm. I have all aftermarket stereo and speakers and so mine never makes any of the chime noise, not sure what I am supposed to do to turn the factory alarm off?

The alarm is not connected to the head unit in any way. The audible chimes you hear (seat belt, door ajar, alarm programming, etc.) all come from the BCM.
