Oil level high... Hey guys... this might be a noob question. But just had the oil changed. And they filled it a little high. Not much, maybe 3mm above the max line on the dip stick.
Oil pressure seems a little high, like 45 at idle.
Should I drain some? Or would it be safe to keep it higher than recommended this time around?

You shouldn't build more pressure because there is more oil. If it's too full, it can hit the crank and aerate the oil causing oil starvation problems. At what point on the stick that happens I'm not sure. But just a slight overfill like yours won't hurt anything.

Thicker weight can cause the higher oil pressure. What did they put in? mine always sits around 39-42 until warm up and drops to 31-33 at idle. On hit summer days here in Texas, I've seen 26 at idle and temps at 240 easy driving. I need a cooler.
As raven stated, too much oil will cause it to foam up and oil starvation exists. With our deep pans, you would probably have to be over 1.5-2 qts before that happens. I run 1/2-3/4 more at the track as a precaution. High revs and constant speeds don't let the oil return fast enough.

-T- ; what year is your car? for the oil temps, see the TSB that suggests an Instrument Control Panel reflash. That's what I did, and it fixed my abnomally high oil reading.
Before TSB/No Cooler: 235-247 daily driving (65* temps)
Before TSB WITH Cooler: 205-215 daily driving (65* temps)
After TSB WITH Cooler: 185-195 daily driving (65* temps)
OP, for oil level, don't sweat it. I actually run a full quart MORE when I take the car to the track to prevent oil starvation in extended periods of high Gs (cornering). I will drive around town a week before and after the event with a full quart higher and everything is fine. Don't worry about running more, worry about running less...

I wonder if mine has the TSB because I very rarely see over 210(usually under 200) unless I've been running hard in the hot weather and even then the highest I've seen is 230.

well based on the outline in the TSB, mine was affected because of an early 2004 build date, and my VIN was within the VIN range they identified as being affected cars. From what I've seen, its April 2004 cars and older that are affected. Your 2005 should already have the correct software flash from the factory.
