Tuning with a netbook or with a laptop?
i am planning on buying HP tuners and a laptop or a netbook so that i can tune my own car. I was wondering if any of you guys use a netbook for tuning? What are the pros and cons on using either? Thanks.

I've messed around with both but currently just use the netbook. I like how it's more maneuverable while you're in the car but since the screen is smaller having to scroll can get annoying while messing with certain charts.

Netbook is convenient, but screen resolution is too low.
I'd get a new laptop. They can be had for $300-$400 and would be adequate for hptuners and all other general computing needs.
You could go the used route, but more than likely you'll spend at least $200, and it will probably need at least a new battery to make it reliable. In the end, you'd be better off buying a new one.

Example: http://www.shopping.hp.com/webapp/sh...ABA&catLevel=2
Same resolution as the one above, but a larger screen (but it has less memory)

I've been contemplating the same issue. I tune 3 Harleys with Powercommander V's and currently use a Dell D620 (for work too) and would like to have something smaller (and dedicated for tuning) that I can mount on the bars so I can datalog(LM2) pull over and make adjustments. I'm also about to buy HP tuners pro for use on a couple of my cars.

Just talked to a computer geek buddy of mine, he has a d420 with xp that is fresh w/1.7 processor and 2g memory that I think i'll buy. He said he would put windows 7 on it but thought that it would be faster with xp. Have any of you guys compared the hptuners on xp versus windows 7?
