Whats considered "Old man" or "Stealth"
Im looking for cams and i was wondering what is considered to be Stealth or Old man cam size? because im looking for a good steatable cam that makes good power but also i do want to be able to really hear the lope.

If you want lope you don't want stealth.
Stealth cams usually have high lift, relatively smaller durations and a wide lobe seperation for less overlap. This gives them a good idle, quiet sound, and make really good power for their duration.
Cams that lope really hard have higher durations and less lobe seperation for more overlap.
If you want streetable and the sound of a bigger cam than you have maybe the hotcam wouldn't be too bad. It's dirt cheap too. Its good for its sound, easy on valve springs, really cheap, makes more power than stock, and did I mention its cheap?
A TR 224/224 on 112 will have a little lope, any bigger and it gets more and more noticable, more duration and lift will make your car harder to deal with on a day to day basis.
What sacrificies are you willing to make for power/sound? There are guys here who regularly drive 3 speed autos with 4.10+ gears and with cams in the 230+ range. There are others who wouldn't even think of going above 224 (seems to be a good cut off for the mild cams and the "get serious" cams) on a daily driver. What is liveable is up to you.
Check out some sound clips, look at dyno sheets, check prices, and ask more questions!

"stealth" or "old man" means that it doesnt rattle to pieces,
and you dont have to use two feet at stop signs and red lights.
ive heard you can go for a nice lift
if youre willing to compensate with duration (dont know how)
and high LSA
check out what colonels doing with the stealthII cam
he knows whats up,
and i think if there was a better stealth or old man cam out there,
he'd be using it.
oh yeah.
the hotcam is NOT stealth.
in fact, its quite the opposite
big bark
wheres the bite?

I would go with the cam i got then. B1. Good with or w/o headers, dont need a tune and no surging in an A4. The hotcam WILL need a tune in an A4. Heres a clip of a B1 with headers.....http://www.ls1sounds.com/unknown/B1idle.wav

Go for the hotcam, and some true duals. Just make sure to get a good tune and it will idle with no surging. It sounds awesome,it its not much harder on your engine than the stock cam and you can make some great power with it. I'm makingt 375hp/380tq with a stock ls1 intake stock unported TB, no free ram air still have EGR tube etc etc. With all boltons you can get right at 400hp with an m6, thats alot more bite than people give it credit. Did I mention it loves the bottle? Watch those TQ #'s go through the roof with a 100 shot, oh yea you can pick up the cam and springs for around $200 used.........

Good streetable cam but you DO want to hear the lope? I'd go with the MTI X1 and a good LS1Edit tune.
GREAT streetable cam with NO lope (in my case at least. Your results may vary for whatever reasons)? Go with the Stealth II cam from MTI. I ran 11.20 at 121 MPH with stock gears, a moderate stall converter, and a 3525 lb raceweight. This car IS my daily driver.

Yes, NA.
QTP headers and ORY-pipe
QTP electric cuttout
Stock muffler
I should also point out that I have Stage II LS6 heads which MTI tells me are worth about 10 RWHP over Stage II LS1 heads on a stock CI engine.

the colonel knows whats up.
thats why im following his setup a bit
except im gettin 3.73s cuz man..
"moderate stall converter"?
i dont know what youre used to,
but let me say with these 2.73's im doing 3000rpm in and out of parking spaces.
im considering the stealthII cam as well.

Z98, I'll be glad to tell you anything you want to know about this car.
"Moderate" is opinionated of course, but your opinion will be swayed once you've driven a TP4600 on the street for about 15,000 miles! This SS4000 is SOOOOOOOOoooooooo much better on the street than that thing was.
As I'm sure you know those 2.73 gears aren't helping matters for you either. With 3.23s and the right programming, it's pretty, well...moderate.

I'm also curious, Colonel, but more about the daily driver 2002 Z28 Stealth II setup. I also have an '02 NBM, in SS hardtop trim, with only a lid and SLP 2OTL exhaust, and just dynoed 323.5 HP / 335.6 TQ. I'm interested in the most low/midrange torque I can find for this daily driver. It has to remain well-mannered, without lope, 60-miles-per-day reliable, and the exhaust needs to stay rasp, drone, and tin-can-rattle free, so I'm planning long tube headers with catted y-pipe, then some heads and a cam.
Just reading the other day some dyno results from someone with one of the new TRex cams--totally not what I want--but an interesting observation was made about the low / midrange torque improvement due to installing an LSx intake, and I've heard that more of the same can be had from installing a larger throttle body on that intake. Anybody tried it on a stealth setup?

im gonna have to know what to ask for
they arrive in less than one week.
and honestly..
im kinda used to how loose this thing is.
not THAT bad, actually.
the shift extention is worth it even if i had to stay with 2.73
