anyone else SS3600 under stalling? *nevermind!*
So I just got done with the break in period, took the car out and pegged it from a dead stop...the converter flashed to right about 2800 rpm and climbed steady from there. I do a brake stall and it only gets up to about 2500 rpm then the micky thomsons break loose....any ideas on what's going on? I waited over a month to have this thing "custom built" by yank. Just hoping that when i take it to the track tomorrow i see atleast 3200 flash with a dead hook.

I wonder if something is up with them.. The last 4-5 threads I have followed with members that buy this converter either are not happy with how hard it is or it isn't cutting the 60' a 3600 with XX mods should.
Not like Yank.. I'm sure if there is a problem they will fix it. Their customer service and products are A+.

Didn't mean to.. just seen a few guys in past couple weeks complain about where its flashing or sub par short times.
If there was a "bad batch" yank will get it worked out, no doubt about that. If not and its just yours, I'm sure they will set you up still. They are top notch.
I didnt say anything about ptc cause they have nothing to do with this.
They make an amazing converter but so does yank. I don't nut swing I just try to spread the knowledge/experience I have.

I don't think its an issue until its an issue though.....as the ownership age drops, so will knowledge of even basic mods. I take complaints with a grain of salt because it simply could be user error or insufficient knowledge in general.

Just trying to help out Is all.
Again.. Yank converters are A+ and should hit hard as hell and be extremely efficient. If not, talk to them and they will get it sorted out.

I may be mistaken, but I thought there was no exact way to check the stall of a converter once it's on your car. I wouldn't think flooring it and seeing what it flashes to would be an accurate way to tell what the stall is at all and I've read that brake stalling does not show what the stall of your converter really is either. Like I said, I may be wrong, but that was the impression I was under.

I have had multiple ls1 cars with multiple converters and this one seems just understalled. I have had an art car 3600 that i could brake stall to 3400 before the tires would spin, and vig 3800 that would hit 3500 and a coan 3200 that would hit about 3000 to 3100...they where all close to stall speed. this one hits 2800 or so and spins the tires. I'm taking it to the track tonight, and if my 60' times are ok and i get a dead hook, i'll see what it flashes to. if my 60' times are ok, then i could really care less what it stalls to lol, i'll check my shift extensions and see how that is as well.

Many things affect flash and brake stall which is why it will vary from car to car. With brake stall its completely off the hook as rear ratio, and just how good your rear brakes are determine this along with how stcky the tires are so this number is pretty useless as it will vary wildly from car to car.
Flash stall when in first gear or even 2nd though not as much again wont tell you alot as flash stall is based on a 1 to 1 ratio NOT the 1st or second gear ratios. In addition how the car applies its torque during the lanuch can vary this number too. For instance if you have a 3600 and your torque peaks at 4200 then that will change the flash stall as oposed to a 3600 with its torque peak at or below that RPM.

ok, just got home from the track. two weeks ago, the car ran 13.06@106.1 with a 1.95 60' pretty much stock. Added pacesetter longtubes with or-y and the ss3600. temp and DA pretty damn close to each other. tonight i ran 12.38@109.67 on a 1.75 60'!! a gain of .7 and 3 1/2 mph (best mph tonight was 109.97). very happy with my results!!!
