Hey guys just have a question... Still learning what there is to know about my car and unfortunately I'm not ome to figure out for my self... My brother has a 2004 goat and he snapped a half shaft at the track the other day... I own a 98 trans am and I'm just wondering if I have the independent rear as well?

Although that is a true statement, the factory offered 7.5" 10 bolt is extremely weak and depending on his transmission, at the track or even on the street, he can break it just as easily.

So FYI for everyone, just be easy on it.

Edit:

There are sort of 2 different questions.

Title is for Drive Shaft: Your car should have came with Aluminum, which is weak and can break. When mentioning "Half Shaft" thats part of the IRS so not to confuse anyone, just be clear that you need to take it easy on both. GTO's have a 2 peice DS as well so I would ask the OP to clarify on what broke.
