Default Another Diff question

Sorry to post another diff question. I have searched and researched a ton. I just want to be sure I have all the info before I make a purchase. I am in the market for a V, I have been looking for an 06-07 for obvious reasons. But I found a really nice 05. The older style diff is leaving me a bit hesitant. From my understanding there is not recall so if my car is not under warranty it will be on me to fix any potential problem? It is also my understanding from searching that braces don't really get the job done? And finally that the only 100% solution is a 5k 9" rear? Thanks guys.

I would start by checking the part number on this said 05, maybe it has already been upgraded to a 3/4 gen diff. if it has great, if not, I would not say its a total loss, I am on my original diff, with a maggie and a few other mods, and I have not *yet* had a problem. its all about how you drive it.

Thanks a lot guys. But I found an 06 anyway! I'll post pictures when I get it.

Also just a side question. Is some of the rear end failure from people that don't know how to launch (dropping the clutch) or if you slip the clutch a little on a launch like you should am I still going to have potential problems?

Part of it is bad rear housing/support design and part of it is people not driving within those limits eg. continuing to romp on it through wheel hop.

If you have an 06+ diff you will break the inner or outer axle stubs before the diff goes.
My advice, get a "wheel hop" axle and don't worry about the diff.

From what I found in my research GEN 3+ diffs are hard to break with VERY FEW failure, and the ones failing are the ones put through hell and hopped a lot. IMO, get it, add some axles and IF the diff fails get a newer one, which are a LOT cheaper than you think.
