troubles with accy drive system
Hi
everyone.
I got a recent problem with the accy drive system,
I am building a 62 impala wagon that i am putting a 5.3 truck motor in.
I have replaced the pan with an f-body,and now I noticed that the factory accy drive system will not work with my setup, the main issue is the a/c compressor bracket will not clear the motor mount relocation plates I got.
So my question to all you smarter people is what is the best option? Do I try to relocate my a/c to the pass. top of the motor and use a different compressor and then i use my factory setup? or do I try to find a complete f-body or corvette drive system used, but i think i would need to change my intake as well???? please help with my dilemma. next is does anyone sell a/c relocation brackets to the top pass. side for the truck motors???
Thanks in advance for any comments.

So did you have to change your truck waterpump to a car waterpump? And what bracket did you buy from Kwik, the truck one? The reason why i ask is eventually i want to upgrade to a different intake so therefore i would probably have to change my waterpump to a car pump so i was just curious if i bought the truck a/c bracket would that still work on a car intake and pump? If that makes any sense? Thanks for your help on this ordeal.

If you're planning on changing to a car intake you don't have to change the waterpump, there's ways around it. if you do change the waterpump, you'll need to change it all, crank, alternator, PS, ect. unless you space the wp out because they're different distances from the block, the car stuff is closer. I think Garys68 put the truck pulley on the car waterpump, but I don't think that's an easy thing to do.
If you keep the truck intake you can just get the brackets for a truck, and don't have to change anything except for the tensioner.
Here's mine on a 5.3

O.k that clarifies things a little, just curious odviously i am new at this, can you get a decent amount of jam with a truck intake?,i know you get more torque cause of the longer runners but i was curious because down the road i was thinking of totally rebuilding, and going with car intake etc. but i did'nt realize they were different geometries.
thanks

Honestly, I doubt you would see much difference on a 5.3 with a car vs truck intake.
My hood clearance was close with the truck intake and I had a spare LS1 intake on the shelf. 07+ DBW TB will clear the L92 angled inlet water pumps, but I discovered the earlier ones dont. So I had a spare Ls1 water pump with the truck pulley and used it.
If you go with a LS1 intake you CAN NOT use an LS1 water pump with spacers and still get the Kwik bracket to fit.. You might be able to use an L99 water pump with their bracket, call Kwik on that or spend $184 to find out.
Hope this helps.

Called Kwik today, super nice guy to deal with he is checking on shipping right now and will order by the end of the week, which of the 4 sanden compressors should i go with, any one of them better then the others? I think your right, with i should just stay with the set up i got and build it,should be enough power to move my beast down the road.
thanks again
