ms4 cam
Im not very familiar with camshafts or anything internal on my 99 ls1. i have a friend that is selling a brand new ms4 cam he bought from texas speed but did not use. Is this a good cam? Are there better cam setups for a fair price? He told me 350$ for the cam. @50 239/242 ---111/lsa is this a good deal?

Ive heard good things about the ms4, but i do believe your gonna need springs and hardened pushrods with that cam. I dont remember if there are any PTV issues with that cam. Id say pop into the pop into the GEN III internals fourm and ask about it and im sure one of the boys at texsas speed will chime in and help you out.
Or just call them they are great guys down there and have awsome customer service. They helped me out alot when I bought my T3 cam from them

It really depends on what you are looking for out of a cam. The MS4 is the largest most aggressive cam we can offer for the stock motor, so if that is what you are looking for it would be the way to go. But if you car is more of a daily driver, or you are looking for more low end power you might try and go with a smaller cam. You will definitely need upgraded valve springs and hardened pushrods for a cam like that. Also, if the car is an auto you will need a stall converter as well.

The same guy selling the cam has a 3600 stall also. Im jumping on both of them. I have 3.73 gears on the way would this be good enough? I ordered them before i came across the cam. This is jyst a weekend car im building myself (to learn) for race only .

Thats good to hear. Looks like im heading in the right direction. Is there any other internals i should swap out while im in there? Preferably money friendly as much as possible. Ive been hearing ls6 heads and intake should be on my list. Thanks for all information.

Jon i havent put my T3 in yet, when tear into to it to put it in can you do a mail order tune that will cover bolt ons my T3 LS6 intake and a 3600 stall or am I really gonna have to deal with these jacka$$s up here in KC to get a dyno tune thats gonna cost me $650

I will always be the first person to tell you that a dyno tune is best. When the tuner has the car in front of them it is much easier to make the fine tuning adjustments that sometimes need to be made. That being said we should be able to get the tune very close, close enough that you can drive the car around and race it if you would like. Once you pay the initial $225 for the mail order tune you get free retunes for a year so if anything needs to be changed it doesn't put you out of more money.

i have a friend with hp tuners on his lap top his does everything for me. FREE haha i love being able to say that about a tune. But i will check into the stock ls6 heads , timing chain , and oil pump. it will be a while before i can get everything i need. im gonna pull my motor out and build it part by part im guessing.
