fuse/fusible link question

It is good practice to install a fusible link on any high current wire that could become chafed and short. If it chafes somewhere downstream from the power source and shorts to ground, the fusible link will melt and create an open. This should be done at the power source.

No fuse or link on my. Just some 6ga (overkill but it what I had) something pretty extreme would have to happen for my wire to touch anything though. Prolly wouldn't be a bad idea if you are at all worried about it.

I replaced the fusible links with in line fuses. There is no good reason to run without one or the other. Have one off the alternator and an one in line to the battery.
You size the fuse/fusible link to match the wire size. Yoiu can find tables of wire gauge amp ratings on line. I did match my alternator fuse to the alternator rating (85 amp) since the wire is much higher rating (4 gauge)
