.1 if you're lucky.

Get a converter and shave .5+ off.

Yank SS3600 and some GM 3.73's. Ran that combo in my 94 Z28 and it ripped out of the hole and still had great dtreet manors around town & on the hwy.

I have 275s all the way around they're just street tires but they do the trick I jus chirp first and second gear in my A4.I'm getting the converter real soon its just that I've seen gears for cheaper and I've heard theyr easier to put in. As far as my 60ft I'm doing anywhere from a 2.10 to 2.30..I also think I need a tune because I put true duals in and it sounds like its running rich..the duals helped at the track tho

Does anyone else have past experience with gears at the track and how much it helped you improve?

I would do 342s before 373s. Better mpg, stronger, same et, cheaper.

3.42's are another good route to go. Anything is better then your current ratio

I've run 3.42's at the track and now have 3.73's but at the same time I added injectors, bigger TB and 3.73. My times went from a best of 12.4 @108 1.78 60ft to 12.14 @112 1.68 60ft. I don't know though for sure how much the gears contributed. Take it with a grain.

A4's (depending on what carrier they came with) came with 2.73's or 3.23's.

I never understand all this MPG talk when it comes to gears. I went from 3.42s(m6) to 4.11s, no noticeable change in gas mileage. So what is the story, does the A4 just suck in regards to rear gear changes and mileage, or are people constantly bringing up an invalid point?

Lt1s with a4s like 3.73s especially with a 3600 stall, people have gone with 3.42s to save cash and the results in the 1/4 are similar.
All of the 2.73 geared Lt1s i have converted have gained substantially. I would rather purchase a used 3.42 complete rear for 150.00- or so than to spend 500+ on a 3.73 instal the extra money can go to a decent stall.

Auto and manuao are completely different. Manuals gain a lot autos gain next to nothing.. manuals mpg hardly ever change even with heads cam, autos change with simple mods.

3.23s.. all RAM air models came with that option standard. Base models have the choice of 323s with 273s being standard.

Just get a set of 3.42's from some guy with a m6 that is doing a gear swap. you can get them pretty cheap.

They are stronger than 3.73's and will produce better mpg's, and give nearly the same performance.

Because gas mileage really doesn't have a lot to do with rpm levels, but rather load on the engine. An auto has no physical connection to the engine. It takes more effort for that engine to do the same work a manual does. Pair that up with a loose converter and gears...
With a manual I went from 3.73's to 4.56's and get the same MPG.
