i hope that i never have all these leaks from my slip fit like everyone on here talks about. i just put a **** load of copper rtv on it and let it set up for almost 24 hours. anyway if you really want to put a band clamp on it, then giving it some way to tighten down is the only way to do it i think. you could also just get the slip fit welded together.

On my jethots I just gooped high temp copper RTV and let it cure for a day or two before starting the car. Lasted like that for about 7 months. Pretty easy/cheap temp fix if you ask me. I may just have it welded though if/when I decide to re-coat the headers.

I just got hooker headers. What part do I weld for a permanent fix? Or is there such a thing. You have to deal with this on 6 7 hundred dollar headers? WTF. also a band clamp can get in there ? Anyone have pictures I'm lost.

only thing about welding them you will want to put them on and bolt them up and put a tack on them to hold it where you need it or you will be screwed lol. should be a permanent fix for the slip tube that goes around the steering shaft. as far as the band clamp i got some on order and soon as they get here imma give it a shot so ill let you know

A long time ago when I installed some pacestter headers I had a problem with the erg sealing on the header. I bought this muffler repIr stuff you harden with a heat gun and It worked awesome. I can't remember the name but it may still be at my dads with all my old car stuff. I think it would seal the joint on the hookers bur it would look like ****.

NO NO dont cut any thing!! i ran those headers for years on both my motors........i took it apart multiple times.......all you need to do is make sure that both the male and female surfaces are clean and use a good layer of the copper hi temp rtv......let it dry over night and you're good to go.........
