Clutch and maggie
My 05 V needs to have a clutch change and was wondering if you have to take the maggie off in order to get enough clearance to remove the transmission, bell housing, etc.

Thanks for the response. The double drive sprockets on the back of the maggie has very little clearance between it and firewall and it appears if you let the rear of the engine drop to far it might damage them.

I didn't have to on mine but every car is a little different. Just have someone watch when you let it down. Dont just let the trans hang without support. Even if you do end up pulling the blower, it's only like 10 bolts or so and the whole maggie comes right off.

IIRC, it was the LS9x ... it was not the super duper one which I believe is the R.
Like it? Heck yeah! It reduced the parade clunk by roughly 80% and is much smoother shifting. I have yet to really "test" it with a clutch dump, but I'm sure it's up to the task. Pricey darn thing, but I'd do it again in a heartbeat.

Costs? IIRC, the slave was a little over $200, the bleeder just about $100. Installation of the LS9 kit included a couple of other things (SS brake lines install, brake fluid flush, clutch fluid flush, and failed attempt to put in a new oil pressure sending unit ... they said they'd have to remove the maggie, and I called them off from doing it), and ran me $900. The clutch kit by itself would probably be $500-600 in labor, but that's a rough estimate.
