9 inch leaking out passenger axle HELP!
As title state, my Moser 9 inch is leaking a little gear oil out of the passenger side axle. We just put it in a few weeks ago and when we did, we put new bearings in it. The bearings have the o rings on them. I popped the axle out far enough to expose about 1/4 inch of the bearing and put hi-temp silicone on it and pushed the axle back in assuming this would fix it. Drove it 100 miles or so and just pulled it apart only to find it still leaking. I am 99% sure it is not leaking between the axle tube and the axle where i siliconed it but where could it be leaking from? I find it near impossible to leak between the axle and the inside of the bearing as these are pressed onto the axles with a crap load of force. Could it be bearing failure and be actually leaking through the bearing through the middle of it that seals the ***** in the bearing? I'm confused. These bearings came straight from Moser about 3 weeks ago. Its not leaking horibly but it's enough to drive me nuts. The other side doesn't leak a drop. Please help!

Do you have the gear oil full to the bottom of the fill hole located on the driver side of the center section? Bob

My drivers side leaks like hell! I silcone once, and it still leak 20 miles later. So this time I thought maybe the bearing was spinning in the axle tube? So I cleaned everything with brake clean real good and sealed it up with gereral motors sealant. But this time I took a punch and wack the side of the hosuing end to snug up with the bearing. If it leaks again I'm buying a new housing end and bearing.
Btw if moser only sales those housing ends wanna go in half for a set?

I agree, I would replace the seal. To the OP, sorry I haven't been on here much the last couple of days. I've been working on getting a new building put up, been clearing the land. Bob

I believe the o ring seal is made onto the bearing. Is this not the case? I don't think it is leaking from there though. Almost like gear oil is coming through t
he bearing which im not sure is possible?

I didn't pull the axle out far enough to see the o ring but it should be fine. I siluconed all around it and it doesn't look like its leaking from there anyways. Like its leaking through the bearing or something.

So after putting silicone on every part of the bearing I could and putting it back together and let it sit for 2 days to make sure it was fully dry. I just got done driving it about 20 miles or so and looked through the back side of the backing plate and it is leaking again. There was a little gear oil slung inside the wheel as well. WTH!!! Is it possible for fluid to leak through the bearing? I swear that is where it is coming from. If so why would it be leaking there? They are new bearings straight from Moser. So fed up right now haha

Hmm, here are part numbers from Napa for the seal and bearing. You may just have to replace them. Bob
- Napa Replacement part numbers for nine inch wheel bearings and seals.
Bearing: 88128-R
Inside Seal: 15142

Just a thought, but did you install seals in the housing ends? My Mosier 9" axles and housing didn't come with seals. I have 31 spline axles, I used CR#15141, available at any good parts store. The o-rings are just a backup, my bearings don't even have them.
