Default Hurting rings??????????

Two diff. motors, Two diff. tuners both hurt the rings on initial tune. First one was a 5.3, 76mm turbo, 60lb injectors, vic jr, turbo cam ported 317's, big stuff 3. stuck the top ring on six cylinders before we could even dyno it. Second motor stock 6.0 shortblock, 96lb injectors everything else the same. Got it on dyno did some part throttle tuning made 4 good pulls 9lbs of boost 11degrees timing 11:1 afr made 450hp. we turned the car off to cool and make some adjustments and the the car would not start again. After checking things out did a leak down and six cylinders leaking 80%. Top of pistons look good, plugs look fine, second ring down and oil ring stuck on all six. Any Ideas lol? This is a brand new BS3 only thing common to both motors is the BS3 cam and heads.

The first one had never been apart. It was a 5.3 right out of a truck just changed the heads and cam. I dont want to put another one together and have the same thing happen again. Wondering if its the big stuff box?

Maybe mark the balancer at tdc, then sinc the timing with a light. I do it on any built engine, with a mic on the piston, mark the balancer and make a tab, then put the head on.

That would rule out the bs3, or a tuning error. Other than that.....????? very strange

Yea I have a timing tape on the balancer and verified tdc and timing and everything looked good. I dont know if there is something ground into the cam or what. Bought the cam from a guy on here and that the heads and the BS3 is the only thing carried over from the first motor to the second.

No we did not log any of the runs because we had not even started leaning on it yet. The skirts and cylinder walls look good. The second ring is just stuck and the gaps are closed on six cylinders.

^^ thats interesting cause the second ring gap is larger than the first ,, but you said "stuck" which is usually from detonation .. usually "butted rings" will not be stuck ,but the ring tension will be super loose from what i have seen ..
