Quick question about KG3/AD-244 alternator pin connectors
I've read all the big threads about replacing our CS-130D's with the 145A KG3/AD-244's. If I understood correctly, when shopping for a used version of this alternator we needed to be sure it is a 4-pin, correct?
There is another thread here were a member is insistent that all KG3/AS-244's are 4-pin.
My concern is if this info is incorrect, there may be individuals that purchase the wrong version of the KG3/AD-244 based on this possible inaccurate information.

CPO, the problem you are experiencing is the result of low blinker fluid, or possibly a bad flux capacitor. There's not much you can do about it, your motorhome is more or less salvaged now

Also, I called several businesses listed on ebay and car-parts.com, and they all said their versions were 2-pin (or maybe he said 3)???
<EDIT>
Here is another quote from that thread:
EDIT: 4 PIN ALTERNATOR NOT WIRE
Cool dude, just to make sure, did you get the 4 wire, 145 amp alternator from a 99-03? It has to be the 4 wire, I may have accidentally left that out earlier but I do not think the 99-03 had the 2 wire anyway so it may be a non issue.
Please let us know how this works out for you.

I just went to an automotive electric place that build/rebuilds them and asked for a an AD244.
I guess there are two types:
http://www.alternatorparts.com/ad_al...order_page.htm
I know ours is a 4 pin, but there is only 1 wire coming out of it.
You will also need a bigger belt. I got my original belt on there with some grinding of the belt tensioner, but I didn't like how tight it was.
I simply went to autozone and looked at the PN for the stock Fbody belt. it's something like 6pxxx where the 6 is the number of ribs and the xxx is the number of centimeters. I added 10 or 20 (the next possible part numer) to give me that extra 1/2" that was needed. It's been working great for 2 or 3 years.

So now the question is does this only apply to 2004 and up KG3's/AD-244's? That is what I am suspecting at this point.

So let me get this straight. My best bet is to find a 1999-2003 GMC/Chevrolet Truck and/or SUV with the opt code KG3. These 1999-2003 opt code KG3's are almost all 4-pin alternators.............whereas the 2004's & up are not a 4-pin certainty.
Does this sound about right to everyone? Have I finally nailed this annoying KG3/AD-244 2-pin vs 4-pin booger to the underside of an Applebee's table? I don't know....

Purchase this alternator GM number 15263859 from this website:
http://www.gmpartsgiant.com/parts/gm...-15263859.html
This is an AC-Delco rebuilt alternator. OR do your own internet search, just make sure it's an AC-Delco rebuilt unit.
It will bolt and plug right in and the pulley is the same size negating the need for a belt change.
You can read my single post about it here:
https://ls1tech.com/forums/13597443-post88.html
OR better yet, read the entire thread here:
https://ls1tech.com/forums/generatio...-failures.html
There are many of us who've done this without issue or drama. It's all there, it's easy.

Sometimes I'm glad she is around to keep me in check. Between car parts, audio components, and casino gambling, I'd surly be one broke *** ****. But other than that, I would love to be single. My last several years have been real stinkers and I don't see things getting better anytime soon.

How much bigger actually is the AD244 ? are there any fitment issues ?
And would it be more tolerant of rpm's ? I may need to replace my unit soon if it cant be repaired, and from sales blurb Ive googled, the AD244 seems to claim to be the best upgrade option that doesnt cost a fortune.
However buying from thousands of miles away, I'd like to be sure it is what they claim.
I need a 4 pin, 1 wire unit.
