Default Fosgate went old school again thank god!!

Today we got the new RF punch amplifiers in. Great news. They went back to the internals they had years back when they were a high quality name. And they are underrated again

What makes these "old school" internals better than the newer ones they were using?

Well we all know that once RF started mass producing their amps they lost quality and used cheaper internals. Thats changed. Remember when a 300.1 was 330Rms? The last models were 900W yet did 300RMS... Now today i saw a 200.2 that does 249RMS. Manager told me they went back to the higher end internal materials. Ill get back to you this week after we install a few...

RF had to produce mass quantities when they sold out to Best Buy. But hey Best Buy buys ALOT of product at once and it puts money in RF's pocket so who can blame them. Cool to see they changed the amps...I don't recall having any problems with any of their stuff ever though.

Yea well I highly doubt Rockfords stuff is ever gonna be as good as it was 10 years ago. There amps probably got better (couldnt get much worse) but I still wont run any of their amps or recommend running any of their amps. Too many problems installing them and using them in the past.

I wonder what kind of problems you have had? I have been installing professionally for 15 years. During that entire time I have installed countless RF products and never had a problem that could be blamed on RF. Sure a bad amp or sub here and there but nothing like a string of problems. I will say their series one stuff several years ago left alot to be desired.

I just noticed the amps would run exceptionally hot at even the recommended ohm loads. Also they just never sounded very clean to me and always seem when you really cranked them up they would loose their luster. Once I started using JLs amps I would never go back. You cant beat the price and performance you get out of them. There subs never sounded very musical to me kind of muddy again no comparison to JL. Does JL stuff cost more than RF? Yea, but its a hell of alot better for not alot more money.

one of the main problems I see with RF, is the repair
just a couple of years ago, when you blew up an amp, if you needed 1 little part you can buy it and replace it
now, RF doesnt do that anymore. When something goes, you have to replace the whole board.....which costs as much as the amp initially does. I hate "throw away" products.
