LS6 Heads vs. Stage 2 LS1 Heads
Which would produce the most horsepower/torque on average?
Stock LS6 Heads
OR
LS1 Heads upgraded to a stage 2:
- 5 axis CNC machined

The question is far too vague to make an educated recommendation on. Without knowing all the details on the "LS1 upgraded heads" it is impossible to know. It is possible to kill power and torque by porting heads improperly!

Some are better than others, but I have witnessed a few sets of CNC ported heads that a student at a university did during a class he was taking....that engine would have been better off with a stock LS6 head! That is not the norm, but it can still be the case.

I'm sure OP would be able to know if the work was done properly. Let us assume a quality CNC and VJ, like from AI, then YES the LS1s would be much better and produce more power.

Granted, the student probably doesn't have anywhere near the experience in porting heads that some of our sponsors do. I would advise the OP to check out some of the forum sponsors, Advanced Induction comes to mind, to find out if the fully CNC'd 241 v stock 243 would be worth it. I had AI do a custom grind cam and fully reworked 241's for me. I will be posting dyno numbers once the break in period has been reached. That said, I would believe that any professionaly CNC'd 241 would be superior to a factory stock LS6 head. JMHO.

Agreed. "Stage" whatever is more of a marketing thing. I wish it would go away. "A" company might sell a stage 1 and "B" company might sell a stage 2 and be the same work. If they explain their different stages, it would clear up a lot.
