Rear License Plate LED Lighting
For the past few months, I've been driving the T/A without a license plate light cause the old socket was pretty corroded and wouldn't take a new bulb...
I've been putting off installing a new bulb and socket for a while now, but I got a little bored today and mocked up a few lighting boards out of some leftover LED's and Resistors...

After double sealing the boards with Liquid Electrical Tape, I mounted them above the bumper's upper lip using standard sheetmetal screws and flanged washers...

The 12 Ultra White LED's (2500 mcd) light up so bright, that it looks like I have Neon shining on the ground behind me lol...

Man, you never cease to amaze me. That looks pretty good. Of course in New Hampshire no blue red, or any other color of any law agency can be used on the exterior of your car Looks awesome though, keep the ideas comin'

Re: Rear License Plate LED Lighting
Yes, I'm using the same connection from the stock bulb (12v)
The LED's are wired in Parallel with 1 resistor per unit...
The resistors are 1/4 Watt/580 Ohm

Damn. This isn't as 'trick' as the other stuff you've done but it is still nice. I am thinkin of trying to do the front license plate cover thing (make it light up red). Nice work.

Re: Rear License Plate LED Lighting
holy crap! I didn't realize you did those yourself you should make those and resell them to people like myself who can't do a lick on their own! I want it but can't do it, start a business and I'll be the first in line to buy those two.

Re: Rear License Plate LED Lighting
PWRTRIP, the problem with the front Bird is that the clear covers are only available through AfterThoughtsAuto and from what I hear, they won't be producing a second batch due to blemishing problems with the first (blemished covers still work fine for painting)
If someone has an extra clear cover, I wouldn't mind doing the prep and paintmatch (which can easily be done at any local paint shop), but for the lighting system, I'd much rather have the car in front of me to do the install...
As for the rear filler panel, it gets a bit more complicated...
Drilling the panel and adding fiber optic cable is pretty simple, but installing the finished panel on the car takes a bit of know how...
The fibers are very brittle and can easily break if not installed on the car correctly, so unless I have a customer's car in front of me, I wouldn't bother attempting it...
For that reason, I won't be mass producing the filler until I can figure out a way to simplify the install to avoid any comebacks...
INSSANE, I've been busy with other installs, so the Flamethrower on the 98 T/A has been put on hold for now....
It's almost done though...
All I need another Fuel Solenoid and it's good to go
VIP, the LED's are 2.1 Volt Nominal/3 Volt Max
