Default 96 vert to be or not to be LS1

OK I know there is lots and lots of info on this subject.
And here is what I want to do.

I have a 96 camaro vert with a bad motor.
I have access to eaither LT1 or LS1 donor cars.

Is the LS1 swap really worth the time/$ spent, vs just dropping in another LT1. In other words those of you out there that did the swap would you do it again. I want to hear from those that did the swap without "building" the LS1. I'm talking a stock swap.

If I go LS1 donor car I have everything from the engine to the rear-end.

I read that I do not want to use the "98" due to computer reprograming is limited. (if I do ever want to go beyond a stock LS1)

The cradle is a direct fit?
The Transmission cross member is an easy mod.
The wiring is easy to mod or just send it out to get done.
All the radiator and hoses are a direct swap.
The fuel lines need mods, with the donor car I will have the correct fittings.
The fuel pump most seem to be using an aftermarket frame mount. Can the donor fuel pump be used in the LT1 car, or can the complete tank be swaped over? If so is it worth the work?
Will the rear-end be a direct swap? And if so should it be done?
Will the SS hood/nose fit the 96?

Thanks again, I'm still undicided if the swap is worth the trouble.

I have done the LS1 swap into a 67 Firebird Vert, and an LT1 into a 1971 Camaro. Both were fun..........

YES!!!!! The swap it totally worth it. I did a 94 Formula and I sold it to get a 79 Trans Am that I'm doing the swap to also. But I soooo miss that car it was such a fun car to drive once I put the LS1 in. Don"t worry about the 98 thing, I used a 98 harness and pcm. The guy that bought my 94 brought it back and we did a MS3 cam in it with no issues. I've also put Twin Turbos on a 98 TA and made 800rwhp so there are no limits to the 98 its just a little more work to tune.
A little mod is needed to mount the trans but the k-member is a direct fit (just need to use the LS1 rack and steering coupler)
Wiring isnt bad if you have the time but sending it out would be alot faster
fuel lines need a small mod and then you put in a vette filter. You don't need to change the fuel pump.
New radiator hoses are needed.
The front end will need to use the fenders as well but will bolt right on I believe.

Any questions you may have I will be glad to try and help you with them.
