just bought a low oil pressure engine need help with rebuild
Ok so I just bought a complete lq4 locally from a guy who said it had low oil pressure. He said when started in mornings you would have to hold the gas to build oil pressure but once warmed up it would run great. Now I only paid $150 for the whole long block with injectors, coil packs, intake manifold. Pretty much a complete long block. Now I want to rebuild it for boost. But need help with picking parts. I want to he able to put down 600whp on e85 and mpt76. Now since it was low oil pressure I need a new oil pump right? And I was think some h beam eagle rods but don't know which forge pistons ( preferably something in the $450 area) and im buying comp gold springs kit and an 02+ ls6 cam. Is my whp doable and what parts do you recomend

save yo money. pistons cost more.
keep stock crank, arp main and head bolts, slp oil pump and double chain, big injectors, gasket kit, get wiseco pistons (they also come with rings and coated skirts), machine shop work, cam/main/rod bearings, callie rods are good or eagle (you just need the H-beam), dual walbro or bosch 044, etc.

Here is my 2 Cents.....
Low oil pressure is likely a bad bearing.....Get it apart, if you spun or wiped a bearing then just get the crank turned and get oversized bearings, get the block honed ($60) and throw a new set of rings on the stock pistons.
You could have a stock short block for a couple hundred....
Bearings ~200
Crank Machining ~80
Oil Pump ~100
Rings ~40
LS9 Headgaskets ~80 (Great for BOOST)
and I would recommend Head Studs....Just for the added security.
Head Studs ~275
$775 in parts and you have a good rebuilt LQ4 with better boost capabilities.
You can always throw some h-beams and Pistons in there, but you will be spending another $1000 or so.
600whp shouldn't need them though.....

I thought about buying that motor just for a spare, for the $200 asking price. Looks like were basically building the same motor. When you mentioned E85, I was surprised it was available in our area, till I googled it.
