Just some action from the past couple weeks. I am having some copyright issues with Youtube, but I think they are all good now, but let me know if you have issues with the video.
Enjoy in HD! :D

Good racing right there! I gotta admit, I really like the way those Ion Redlines look. I almost bought one once, but the center dash gauge cluster was a bit much.
It really sucks about the motor going on the black car. That's some serious carnage.

I could NEVER own one for the simple fact that the cluster in the middle is terrible.
But yeah, worst carnage I've seen, especially from such a low hp car. The ground from the the block had somehow got blown off and was hanging by the wires.
Lt1 needs the driver mod lol
He found it on the last race, but yesterday I just found out he had no clutch fluid in it so that might help.

Thanks guys. The black car probably won't be up until spring, but it should be a good bit quicker then.

He was more pissed that he filled up a bottle for nothing.

I guess he found out afterwards, but the LT1/T56 was out of the car the day after the LS1 blew up, so it's not his problem now. LS motor going in.

Same thing happened to me. I filled my bottle and then the timing chain broke. Now I have a full bottle sitting in my basement, lol.

So apparently LS1 rod bolts r a ticking timebomb? Or is this guy really just that unlucky??
Great races otherwise, and +1 to liking those redlines and cluster being ugly lol

Sean, I was thinking the same earlier when we texted back and forth.
Wasn't the 97-98 LS1 rod bolt's weak and then they upgraded it in 99?
If anybody knows for sure on the issue, please object to my lack of knowledge

You know, that sounded wrong after I typed it and I went and looked it up and it was just the 97/98 LS1s. I don't know how that slipped my mind, considering I owned a 99. :bang:
(The FAQ here has a bunch of differences, but the rod bolt thing isn't in it though.)

Saw some pictures and videos from it, looked freakin awesome! Give me a heads up next time a big cruise like that happens, I could care less if it's a bunch of Fords. That'll give me a reason to pull the trigger on the camcorder I'm looking at.

Good video!Suck's to see that motor blow up!
i ran a 98 ls1 on the interstate when i had the 5.4 3v in he 96gt. as i was easing away from him, i saw him blow in my rear view.
the smoke traveled from the median to the woods on the right side of the road. no way anyone could see through that.
i stopped and walked back to where his car stopped.....and apologized for blowing up his LS1. i guess he had it programmed and it revved too high.

It's not often that you see a Cobra with so few mods; as soon as I saw the mods I knew it was gonna get yanked.

09-15-2011, 06:46 AM
Even if the 99 rods are ''upgraded'', you better ne not revving too often around 7000 on stock rod's bolt. you should upgrade to Katech rods bolts IMO if doing so.
..time for a stroker in that black Camaro!!..but it sucks so much when your engine blows; I felt terrible that day(over rev on a dyno cause of a stupid programmer with no cutoff; 2 days after, engine blows 120miles from home, YAY..and I was too stupid at that time to upgrade to a 408ci for the same price or so of a 347ci GRRRR ).

Great vid. However, I don't agree with the car being rich right before it blew up. IMHO, I think anything over 11.8 AFR is asking for trouble...12.5 AFR is way to lean on a forced induction application. I keep my vehicles around 11.5-11.7

12.5 maybe be very lean on forced induction....but this was an N/A.
