Best Heads for turbo 5.3l D.D ?
I know it has been asked a million times, But I need to ask for my self....I got a 5.3l going into an 88 monte carlo. The exhaust manifold bolts were broken off in the heads (4) were broke. The machine shop informed me today that one of the heads was not repairable due to the ez out broke off in the hole. Any ways my plan is as follows :
*Stock bottom end. edelbrock/msd carb set up and a blow thru 650cfm carb.
*Stock cam "for now / untill i rebuild motor after turbo set up is done."
*Hoping to run 10-12 lbs on pump 92 octane. " any opinions on this are appreciated and welcome"
*I dont know if the valve shrouding due to bore size in relation to chamber size is really an issue.
Now since I cant use my heads which are 862 castings. What are some recommendations? I need to know what to look for. I want to stick with a stock head, and compression dont matter to much but I want it to feel good off boost...Keep in mind this is replacing a stock 305ci so if it felt like a stock 5.3 off boost it would still feel a lot better than the 305. I have no power goals/ what it makes is what it makes. It's just planned to be a fun daily driver for my wife. with occasional 1/4 mi. passes for fun.
Thanks and I look for to the opinions !
