Question Any problems with runnig headers and ORY through a cutout: UNTUNED?

I recently installed my Kooks headers and took out my cats and AIR system. I capped the cutout a few days ago (now goes throught stock WS6 exhaust) but I did run it about few days with it open. Is it safe to do this or will/did I burn a valve? What are the check valve sensors? I know I should get touning for optimum perforemance but do I need tuning to prevent any "bad stuff" from happening? Also, is the AIR system's sole purpose just to inject air into the Cats or does it have some cooling effect on the valves. All my research had only mentioned its involvement to emissions and thats why I took it out. I can't see how, especially with headers, it is expected to go down one 30" long primary and come back up on the others. Thanks
