Broke a valvespring
Just broke a comp cam 918. Need some help on replacement, would you recommend patriot LS Gold series or PRC dual springs? Or anything else good but not over 300?
My cam is comp cam 224/224 .591 lift

Any particular reason why you are wanting to go with a dual? Do you know installed spring heights or were they just dropped in? What kind of rpm are you turning?
I would say go Lunati duals if you are stuck on moving to a dual spring and I believe one of the sponsors has them on for like $205 shipped for the whole setup. That's a great deal. Its in the sponsor sales section.

I have been looking at the PRC dual kit to replace mine (old design PRC duals) the new kit looks to be pretty stout. I have a torquer 3 cam which is harder on valve springs than most, so their claims of longer spring life sound good.
Another kit that has caught my eye is the livernois kit, same price as the PRC's and similar specs. I can't seem to find anyone that runs them though. worth mentioning at least

I have no advice for you, but I ******* hate those 918s. They cost me two engines and all I had was the baby Lingenfelter GT2-3 cam!!! and I didn't install them, they came with the LPE heads I bought. Sorry about your loss

In all of the years we've been using these springs, we've never had or heard of a single failure. We have even testing springs that came out of cars after as much as 60,000 miles with full bolt-on's and a large camshaft and they were still within spec.

.591 is lift of valve which occurs at or near BDC. Nothing to do with spring install height which should be measured with a spring micrometer. Usual 918 install height is 1.80

The spring's installed height is the distance from the spring seat to the bottom side of the spring retainer. That distance is totally dependent on the combined design of the valve and the retainer/keepers when all assembled, as well as how far the spring seat pocket is machined into the head and how thick the spring seat is. As most know, the LS1/LS6 spring seat is incorporated into the OEM valve guide seal.
The LS1/LS6 is designed to have an installed height of 1.800" between the spring seat the bottom of the retainer.
A valve spring designer will design a spring around this fixed 1.800" installed height dimension, and design a spring to give the appropriate closed and open forces. It's kind of up to the guy modifying the car to choose between the springs that are available that is most matched to his cam and use of the car.
