Default Finally got to track.. Vids. E85 questions also

its a 370ci w/ a PT76GTS truck manifolds, E85, Powerglide, 9" w/ 3.50 gears, Full weight, stock shocks/springs, 275/60-16 MT drag radial
18psi boost
14 degrees timing.
Foot braking off the line, not really making any boost

This was just some test runs, first pass was really rich, mid range 10.2:1 an then leveled out at 11.0:1 I leaned it out a little and it picked up 4mph, Still a little rich as it gets into boost, then tapering up to 11.4:1, but as I started to lean it out it ran better and it started spinning and then my brakes started making a grinding noise so I quit for the day.

Whats safe for timing on these? 18psi and E85?

Also some people at track told me I should be around 12:1 A/f w/ E85.. ??
That seems lean as hell.. I was aiming for 11:4ish. ???? What are others targeting?

1st pass on this combo, really rich
http://youtu.be/IEmU8SCAbOc

2nd pass tried to build boost and blew the tires off.

3rd pass after I leaned it out some.. picked up some MPH
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mM1sFB5zX4o

My last pass I leaned it out more, blew the tires off and ran a 10.60 @ 141

Damn makes me want to upgrade to this turbo lol. I'm so torn between this turbo and the S480 or the 4788. But knowing this thing will drop right in for my TC78 makes it very appealing.

Very nice runs for first time out!!!

Great times man COngrats
I'm no tuning expert but from what I read E85 takes a lot of timing over the requler pump gas not sure about the A/F though..

First vid looks like your were coming in fast on a car still on the track that hadn't turned out yet, scary! I've seen that happen many times at our local track when they are trying to pack in as many runs as possible. You would think cars going your speed could at least get a clear track to navigate!

Wow.. i didnt even notice that..lol. That was my first pass and someone told me the announcer was commenting on how loose my car looked in the burnout box (??) whether it would make it down the track, its dead quiet so they probably weren't expecting anything...lol. But ya, im coming up on him at 137mph and he isnt even off the track....yikes.

1.41 and a 1.42 I tried coming off a little harder but the drag radials didnt like it. I'll probably ditch the factory suspension this winter, get a slick, and I have to get a different driveshaft, yoke, and pinion support on the 3rd member then i'll try the transbrake.

I target 11.5:1 on a gas scale with E85. At 9.2:1 SCR, I run 18-19* timing in good air at that boost. I've found that more timing really doesn't make the car go any faster.

I have a twin turbo 370'' lq4 with a blowthru carb and distributor. It's 9.5-1 and has 20 deg of timing, with ngk bp7efs plugs.I am running it on E98 with no intercooler and it runs 12.0-1 on the gas scale and the plugs look good at 10.5 psi.

Dudeman,
I'll have to check my logs to see what my RPM was through the traps.

.
you are definitely making some steam to haul it to 141 at 3700lbs, its showing good power for that weight.

what are the eighth mile numbers?

I'd guess he's making right around 700rwhp, bump up that timing and you'll gain 1 or 2mph easily imo.

6.1 @ 113 on my first pass, the run with the better 1/4 mph (141) went 112mph in the 1/8. I'll post the time slips when I get home, I have them on facebook and work blocks that site....bastards..lol.

I dont know how accurate those online HP/mph/weight calculators are, I punched the numbers in and it came up with 849hp.

Now I have to wait till spring to see what more its got in it Damn Wisconsin.

thats pretty fast. id say the timing will help it some on the back half.

you are probably close in your assumption. i use the reher morrison chart for a rough estimate - i think its a little happy but it gives an idea
