Oil pump whine
I replaced the factory oil pump with a high flow unit 7 years ago. Now it is whining and the pressure guage is +40 AFTER the motor is turned off.
Is this a problem waiting to happen?
I have normal oil pressure during operation.
thx

hmmmm..... so i should ignor this whine? what about the weird oil pressure guage reading after I turn off the engine....
Does that mean the check valve in the oil pump is stuck?

if you turn the car off, the gauge just stays around 40, no way the engine will hold pressure after its off. the gauge should be active with the ignition in the on position, if it shows 40 in the on position then you have a sensor problem. like mentined above remove your belt and give it a try, or change the oil filter.
