Default Dumb knock sensor question

are the two rubber covers that cover the knock sensor supposed to fit on nice and snug or do they just kinda fall in and sit there loosely?

They should be snug, if not water can get in and corrode them, I sealed a loose set with some gasket maker worked until I changed the motor
