Default turbo for max effort stock shortblock 5.3?

Sold my forged 6.0/4L80E/single turbo combo and looking to now do a simple L33 aluminum block 5.3. Head studs, gaskets, cam, LS6 intake.

Car is a 71 Nova. 3400lbs, 4L80E, E85, 3.42 gears, 90% street, 5% drag, 5% autocross.

I like to push the 5.3 as far as possible into the 700-750rwhp area with decent spool. Car did 10.45 at 132 with 650rw.

Do I need to spend the big bucks on a 76GTS? I think that would be killer on a 5.3, or use a bigger S400 derived unit?

Hot Rod Magazine did an article about just how much they could boost a stock truck engine before it let go.

Here is a link. http://www.hotrod.com/techarticles/h...g_bang_theory/

A friend of mine had a S468 with a race cover on a L33. Made 681/712 through a 80e, 9.5" rearend and 35" tires. So in your car with a locked converter it would be over 700rw no problem. And it spooled quick.

If you are going to do some autocross and a ton of street driving why don't you go with some PT62/62's for the quick spool? Are you stuck on doing the single or just an option? I am running a stock bottom end with a 5.3 and should have mine done in a little over a month and can let you know how it turned out. I am hoping for 850rwhp.
