Default Which stock replacement pistons to get?

so, blocks at the machine shop and needs a little more than a hone. 6.0

flat top oversized LS2 pistons or L76 dished?

iow:

higher compression and less boost later or lower compression and more boost later

its just a mild "stock" rebuild.

What type of boost are you applying? How many psi do you plan on?

Anything over 8psi I would do a lower compression, but nothing less than say 10:1 if superchargingor 9.6:1 if turbocharging.

im trying to ddecide if i want the extra squeeze to tie me over til its boosted. 9.6 wouldnt be bad for an s/c either.

the only other thing im worried about is PTV. im running a stock LS7 cam at the moment and may go to a more aggressive LS3 cam or CheaTR cam. so as you can see, im sort of conflicted. though... the one thing is... the G8GT's DO make some great power cam only..

Again depends on how much boost you plan on doing. 9.6 seems low even for a boosted car, unless you're throwing down 15+psi.

with the cathedral truck heads from the lq4, people would run up to 12-13 on stock bottom ls1's. compression would be 9.5. 7-8 is about the high limit for 10:1 on stock shortblocks. i think im leaning towards the l76 pistons from what im seeing on G8 boards about cam only GT's/

With the right tune, people have been throwing down more than 7-8psi on stock block LS2s with 10.9:1 compression. Given that you're going with forged pistons, 10.1:1 compression and the right tune would be fine.
