i bought a 01 camaro z28 a4
So i bought a 2001 camaro z28 a4 with 37.5k miles for 11.9k. It is an automatic with a 4.10 posi diff, 3000 stall, under drive pully, full exhaust, tuned but i believe it is running rich cuz of the soot in the tail pipes, lid, maf. Did i get a good deal??? Also i think i am gonna get it retuned cuz i believe it is running rich my uncle uses hp tuners and i was gonna have him do it. Any other suggestions?

i also found out that it has a stage 1 cam in it too. Pretty sure i got a great deal just cuz of the low miles and its got all the black leather and fun stuff. Kind of confused on the no asr switch but i guess it came that way.

sounds on the high side but the mileage is VERY low so I'd say it's a good deal.
really tho.. I think people paying more than $5k for these cars are nuts. but I'm glad they do! They're not the ones trying to put in a new motor or buying parts cars like I am.
soot doesn't necessarily mean it's rich, could be crappy gas or someone could be flogging it. My car actually runs LEAN according to the tune (like.. detonation lean..) but I still have black soot all over the back of my car every couple of weeks.

You mentioned having full exhaust and a cam..... do you know if it has cats? If not, then you'll always have some level of black soot even if it's not running rich (especially with a cam).

For the low mileage you got a pretty good deal. I'm not really one to pay the premium for low mileage though so to me it wouldn't be worth the money.

yea i know, my price ceiling has no basis in fact other than getting mine for $4500.
I see people ASKING 6-15k for these cars all day long. I'd have never paid that much.
It's all about finding the right car at the right price at the right time. Op I think you did that. how bout some pics?

With that said, I think the OP got a decent deal, I paid 10k for mines earlier this year with 67k miles.

my car @ $4500 had 5 previous owners, NO brakes at all, bald tires, chipping paint on the center caps of the 16" snowflakes, 125k miles, purple seats that were bent inward on both sides, a broken door, passenger side window that won't go down, non working a/c one yellow and one broken headlight, non-working foglights, and an ls1 that has more valve noise than a brass marching band when it's cold.
So yes, if you're looking for trouble free, 6-15k is a good range. 6 is usually gonna be high miles, good condition, maybe a little wear, 15 is probably gonna be mint low mileage with lots of mods, very fast already, a wallet hotrod instead of a builder.
I bought my car with the intention of it being a project. (and boy has it been one! )

Prices has a lot to do with where you live. Im in Cali and I got my 02 z28 m6 110k miles for $5800. I feel like it was a good deal because the interior leather and everything was and still is in superb condition. It also had all new brakes, tires, clutch kit. It had a tick but was fixed easily because it was loose spark plugs lol.

Don't let these guys get you down. I bought a 01' SS m6 unmolested with 38k on it and a SES lighting up like a christmas tree (plugs and wires fixed it) for 11.5k and everyone was congratulating me on how big of a steal I just got.. post pictures and welcome to the community.

This thread makes me feel pretty good about my deal! I recently got a 98 Mystic Teal Z28 bone stock, garage kept its whole life( and it shows) what I would call perfect condition. 95000 miles. I paid $4400, id say thats a steal
