How much timing w/93 octane and 12lbs of boost?
Trying to get my car dialed in. Running a S475 T6 turbo on a LQ9 (10:1 c/r). Running it at 11* of advance in the high cyl mass areas. Just trying to get a feel for how these LSx motors are with pump gas timing since a friend of mine acted as if 11* is so slow it is actually bad for the engine/ring lands.
Obviously I want to attack this slowly, but just trying to get a feel for how much timing everyone is getting out pump gas.

I'm on 93 octane and at about 12.5psi on a forged ls1. During a pull my timing is around 21-22*. I know it's high, but the car doesn't knock. Seems average timing is mid to high teens.

@12psi it is absolutely insane. just trying to get it to go down the track now, went out yesterday and skated down the track every run @ 5psi and 10* of timing, can't imagine what it'll do on kill mode, took it out on the street @ 12 psi rolling into the gas in top gear (3spd auto) @ 60-70 and it annihilates the et streets as soon as the turbo comes online.

317 heads, 12 psi, 10:1, 93 octane but what cam? Keep in mind every LS head prefers a different amount of timing based on the shape / efficiency of the combustion chamber. I wouldn't go a whole lot higher on pump gas but try 11 degrees from 4000-5000 rpm and taper up to 13 degrees by 6000 rpm. If you have a big cam with a bit of overlap you will get more natural egr and can run a few more degrees.

Looks like a pretty decent boost cam so minimal overlap and your back pressure is probably fairly low. Not sure how your timing curve looks before you hit 12lbs but you should keep the timing high before you hit boost and taper the timing out until you hit 12lbs. If you want it to last a while I wouldn't run any more boost or timing than what I recommended on pump gas. I'm assuming you have a 7 or 8 heat range plug in this?
