Default Rockers hitting valve covers, still.

I have some AFR 230v2's and running Yella Terra rockers. I have ground down all the boss's and removed the baffles. I then ran them and still saw some makes where the rockers were hitting. I then did some more grinding all along the top section, above the pushrod side, and just now made some runs up to 6800 rpm's and they still have a few marks were the pushrod side of the rockers are hitting. And this is also running the Yella Terra thicker gaskets. I must have some freak valve covers or something.

How much grinding did you guys have to do to make sure they don't hit? I think I'm hitting at mostly high rpm's. I had to use a .079 shim to get a good wipe pattern so I know that raised them up a bit.

For the ppl that just bought raised aftermarket valve covers, which one's did you go with? I'm kinda on a budget after my engine build so I can't afford the really nice expensive ones. Anyone run the Holley valve covers? They look nice but I'm not sure how much more raised they are.

Do you have the old style Yellas? They had the thicker/wider ends on the pushrod side.
I ran into this and ended up buying the new ultra-lites with less mass. It solved two problems..less mass and no more contact with the valvecovers.
I know you're on a budget and hope that Darkman's suggestion works for you.

Here's another...$10 cheaper. Don't know about shipping cost, though.

I had a similar issue and need to grind off the bosses on the coil mount holes to gain more clearance. Then I seal the coil bolts to keep it from leaking. I couldn't clear until I did this. My rockers have a rather thick shim though.

Running the ultra lites. I'm going to try some more grinding and if that doesn't work then I will probably get the spacers.

I've got a set of 1" spacers I'll sell you for a lot less than that if you decide to go that route. PM me if interested...

I think I may have it ground down enough. Took a ride and no signs of it hitting. I will check again in a few days to make sure.
