Help my stock shortblock 5.3 live.
Hoping for a little advice for you guys with more experience.
I have a 71 Nova. The previous setup was a forged piston, LS6 cam, 6.0 and a single Master Power GT45 (69/77mm). It ran 10.45 at 132 on 17" radials. I sold it for an offer I couldnt refuse and am now doing a low budget single turbo 5.3 to replace it. I run a small speed shop from my home and have a lot of phone calls asking about doing a similiar combo so, what better way to get experience than doing it in my own car.
The combo:
-2005 L33 alum block 5.3, it has the good 799 heads. Opening the ring gaps and general check over.
-224/228 560 lift cam, just a used piece off tech
-LS9 springs
-7.4 Comp pushrods
-headstuds
-I have a new set of 5.3 MLS gaskets.
-LS1 intake
-truck 78mm TB
-3 bar map, Hp tuners custom op system, speed density of course
-Treadstone core vertical flow air/air intercooler (Old setup had this and worked good
-Precision 7675 CEA
-3.5" exhaust
-4L80E, Transgo HD-2 kit
-Yank PY3600
-3.42 gears
-95lb low imp injectors with driver box
-E85 with twin walbros
Id like to push it to 800rwhp on a dynojet (I know you dont race dyno's) and get the 3400lb car into maybe the 9.80's. (I'll be switching the 17" drag radials for 15" Hoosiers this time)
I know E85 and good tuning are key to making it live but what else?
I expect to have to push it pretty far on boost. Do I need meth injection even with an intercooler and E85?
Upgrade the LS9 springs? Maybe Lunati duals? It is a low lift cam.
What kind of timing? My tuner is good but any real world advice is good too.
LS1 intake going to cost lots of power? Prob should find at least an LS6?
Thanks for your time and any advice.

Nate, do a search of all of skinnies posts. He has been very gracious in giving us the details of his success. I would bet he has answered almost all of your questions in previous threads he has contributed to. Good luck.
