Hi, I'm new here. Just saying whats up. I bought a 04 last week. 39,300 miles garage kept. Beautiful shape. Got it for $14,200
So far I love this car. And I can tell after all this time its still a sleeper. The single side exhaust fools people even more I think. I have had a few people try to run me already they get smoked. Maybe guys think....is this Grand Prix trying to race me lol. I wanted an 05-06 looked at a few the only one in my price range with low miles was a repo. Took it for a test drive and the check engine light came on. LEMON!! BTW that lemon is at Sina Auto Sales in Baltimore. Don't buy it!!
I use to own a 86 Z28. Worst thing I ever did was mistreat that car when I was young. I won't make that mistake with this car. I don't have a garage but have bought I really nice cover for this car. Its not my every day car. My beater car is behind the GTO. I will have this car for a long long time. And probably drop a more powerful engine in it one day.

Welcome to the site! Are you the same leadfarmer from ls1?
04s have some problems, but if they pop up they can be fixed pretty easily....if the previous owner hasnt already taken care of them.
I LOVE my 04 (or atleast what's left of it) and wouldn't trade it for anything (except Jessica Alba).
Enjoy man! :)

Thanks, the only issue I have is there is a low vibration in 6th gear when off the gas. Doesn't make sense. Seems like a Tranny issue but after only 39,000 a bad tranny doesn't seem likely. When I gets warm out, I'm gonna put it up and look at the drive shaft. Probably take it off make sure its balanced, reindex it 180 degrees or maybe replace it. A 2 inch 2 piece drive shaft with a yoke seems very weak. Either there isn't much room for the drive shaft (2 inches) or the Tranny and rear end aren't perfectly lined up. Which would explain why Holden and GM made it a two piece.

Nice. The thing I really like about my '04 is that it's a sleeper and doesn't scream racer boy. That little LS1 can be made to make more horsepower than the tires can hold and is pretty reliable so it won't necessarily need a more powerful block unless you want to go crazy. I'm in the mid 400's RWHP with basic cam/heads/LTs and supporting mods.
You may want to check the rubber donuts used in place of u-joints on the ends of the drive shaft and also the center carrier bearing. They're know to deteriorate. A new one piece drive shaft is usually better and sometimes cheaper than fixing the old one. The two piece is an easier way of handling the vibration by raising critical speed of the shaft

Thanks I'll check the entire drive shaft. Had it out on the open highway yesterday for the first time. It's strange at 75mph+ the vibration completely goes away. But 65 feels to fast for 5th gear.

Is there anywhere specific to order those rubber donuts? I don't believe mine have ever been changed. Thanks.

You can get them at GM Parts Warehouse but even discounted they are $255 EACH! That's why most people that start having issues just replace the whole mess. After all that you still have the center carrier to contend with and that is NOT replaceable but requires a whole new shaft that's twice as much as an aftermarket one.

Makes me feel better about paying all that money for a custom driveshaft for mine....3 speed manual to Ford 9" :)
