Default h/c but what else.

So I bout my car with a 98 ls1 with the trickflow 515 top end kit from summit racing, ls1 intake, long tubes.
My question for you ls1 techies is, what parts do you recommend too get out the most horses from the top end kit. also what basic parts on the ls1 to replace such as I heard a ls6 oil pump is a good upgrade.

thanks for all your help.

Oh ok. I should have more specific about the car. its in an 88 rx7 so im running a 90° elbow With a 4in Pipe.

Would a ported ls1 tb do the job or is a 90/90 the best way to go.

Injectors
Timing Chain
LS7 lifters
LS2 lifter trays

If that's the kit that comes with the 220 heads you can get it a lot cheaper from Vengenance.

Umm ok. so.its a 98 ls1, trickflow top end kit, 1 7/8 (or 3/4 but not sure), ls1 intake, its tuned for ls6 but its has an ls1 on it now I guess he wanted to keep it didn't hear about it till after I bought it. 3.5 in singal exhaust to a can with 4 in tip. straight pipes all the way back. Center bolt valve covers. new head gasket and oil pan seal. 4in intake. 160 therm. Tuned with no o2 sensors or maf. and as far as performance thats it. stock everything else. oh and pcv caped. no breather though. thats how I got her and now im trying to get it to be reliable and a little more horses.

You can port the TB yourself, just google it.. but its not worth a bunch of hp. probably wont notice it..

A fast 90/90 will be hard to find but yes it will be a great uprade over the ls1 intake.. An ls6 intake will be a good uprade as well for $300 bucks..

If your set on a fast intake then get the new fast 102, it will make more power than a 90/92.. and its readily available..

people will try and get you to pay 1200-1400 for a used 90 or 92 which is too high in my opinion..

your rod bolts should be fine, that 515 hp combo you bought should be good for 430-450 hp once you dyno and many people are running this amount of hp on their stock bottom end and are fine..

I you want to do rod bolts, look into katech rod bolts.. you can do them while your engine is in the car by removing a motor mount lifting the engine slightly and getting the oil pan out of the way. theres a write up if you search for it..

I did the LS2 chain as do a lot of guys on here, it's cheap and quite a bit thicker than the ls1 chain.

Check that PCV system, capping everything is not necessarily a good thing.

the ls6 valley cover ain't worth the cost and cutting you have to do to install it.get a good catch can ,or make one from a home depot air/water separator.make sure you pcv is working .

agreed.. make your own catch can, once again you can google a write up about it.

I wouldnt want to dremel part of my block because of the metal pieced that will go everywhere, and theres no power gain at all from doing it.. its just a more effiecient system..

I kept my 02 sensors and just got my extensions when i did my longtubes..

I dont know much about running a MAF tune vs SD or others and I dont want to give misleading advice, so just search and read as much as you can that way you can form your own opinion..

If your anything like me, just search for everything and ask questions and experiment with diffrent combos.. everybody ends up changing their minds and going in diffrent directions anyway..

also I know its hard to estimate but with a ls6 intake and ported tb and a ud pulley? (Dumb question but I want to grin at a number lol)
