Pontiac Firebird 1967-2002 - Anyone noticing a drop off in Firebird sightings?

Since we have now entered the 10 year mark since the last Firebird rolled off the line, has anyone else been noticing the number of Firebirds dropping from the roads? I'm talking all Firebirds, from the 6 cylinder models to the Firehawks and everything in-between. I rarely see any in my rural area but during my last trip to Atlanta, I saw maybe 3 (actually saw a 'vert too). I'm talking I-85, the popular Farmer's Market, supermarkets, everywhere. Just very few compared to the thousands of cars we observed on our trip down there.

I see more in my area then when they were still rolling off the assembly line. Younger folks are able to acquire them now as reasonably-priced used cars.

On the plus side, more are showing up in junk yards. This means hard to find and easily destroyed interior pieces, panels, glass, suspension, etc is easier to obtain. Hell, I picked through 3 Trans Ams for perfect replacement kick panels and even found a perfect hard top a-pillar with all the clips. All three pieces for $6.40!
It's to be expected, but I'll be glad to see more available in my local junk yard. Now if only someone would let an LS1 motor and T56 trans get past the entrance... :D

Just in the past month I have seen 2 WS6 and 3 TAs on the road with 2 other TAs and a Formula for sale in parking lots. Still see way more camaros of course but haven't seen a shortage of the birds.

I think I'm the only one in my state! That's how rarely I see them around here, I've probably seen 5 in the last 5 or 6 years....and when I do see them I flip the headlights to say hi and they just look at me like "wtf"?

Maybe in your area, but I have seen a steady amount of sightings over the years here. Granted our pop is just over 200K in this town, but the f-body/capita is actually pretty good. There's almost an f-body for each block in my area with many of them being good and clean examples.

There are 7 fbodies that I know of at my school, 3 birds including mine.

I am seeing less and less. Ive dismantled a few Camaros, id really like to get a Trans Am. Parts are so much easier to sell and worth a little more, plus I need parts for mine!!!!!

I have seen a handful in the past year or so, with the trans ams sticking out the most as that was what I was looking for. When I didn't have one or want one I didn't notice them. Now I get all getty inside when i see one...automatically assuming its someone from tech :D

" my thoughts are walk outside and throw a rock, you'll end up hitting either a corvette, mustang or camaro... you hardly see any firebirds, formulas or trans ams on the road let alone a firehawk... that in it's self is special to me!" - Me

Not many F-Body sighting period this time of year in my neck of the woods. I see a few DD Camaros running around, mostly 6cyls, but haven't seen a T/A in a while. One April hits I'll be better able to judge the amount of sightings.
I always see more Camaros though, and I se more T/A's vs. Formulas or even 6cyl Birds.
It's one of the reasons I love my Formula, I feel it's pretty unique.

I get so many people come up to me at gas stations saying that they never see TA's anymore, and when they do, they are trash. So yea, I would say that they are somewhat rare in my nick of the woods.

Saw a CETA while I was cruising around some this afternoon. Hadn't seen it before so that is a nice addition to the others I see somewhat frequently.
I just drove over 1000 miles from NE to MN and back. I did not see one Firebird/Trans Am on the road. I was watching for one the entire time going down the highway and nothing.

Well I saw 3 today. But then again I see these ones all the time because they all work in the same general area as me.

Have another WS6 in my neighborhood and a 25th anniversary right down the street from us. See firebirds around here all the time. Pretty decent number of TAs.

All of the Firebirds and TA's in pensacola are beat up and look like crap other than about 2-3 TransAm's. So I have been used to never seeing them... then as I passed our local supermarket the other day I was 5 WS6 Lined up all parked next to eachother.... I was like:eek2:
I live in a F-body heavily populated area. Just this past week, 2 more WS.6's popped up.

When we were on vacation in Texas 2 years ago I commented on how many Firebirds we saw in comparison to the southeast. You are quite right, Texas appears to have a decent number. Texans must have good taste in cars, except for maybe some of those Caddy's with longhorns on them

de must be a lucky state i see atleast 4 a day just birds alone, camaros are dime a dozen here but then again i work on the road so i travel from north to south at least 3 times a week and de is small. all these cars are 95% v6 and are all beaten, i hardly see v8s and if i do they are the ones like ppl have on here, well taken care of and babied
poor mine just sits out in a parkin lot and i hardly drive it due to work i drive my pickup..it gets bird crap and pollen all over it i was going to get a cover but its black and i dont want to many scratches and its been a outside car before i bought it so i cant do much more harm but i have settlement on my house with garage in 2 months so im stoked..good not mine has 64k miles.

I've been seeing a good few in the greater Columbus area, most I've seen lately are DD's or beat LT1's. There's a red LS1 I see alot on my way to/from class, and a pewter one I see every so often, but other that just a lot of Camaros.

Hahaha XD. I also flip my lights or give them the thumbs up and some look confused or don't even bother to say anything back. Anytime I see another trans am in a parking lot, I like to park next to them lol. Anyone else does this? I hate the odd feeling when theres another T/A next to me at the red light, and none of us make eye contact, and neither of us want to drive faster than the other until one decides to floor it :burn:. I see a ton of camaros ss where I am from, they are so common its like they are hondas:(, but i rare see T/A WS6s, maybe once in a blue moon.

i see two camaros and three birds before i even get of my drivewy every day, other than that i dont see many here in De unless theyre run into the ground. recently bought a v8 formula for 500, t-tops, only really needs head gaskeys done and some body work. 116k miles too.
