Default How much horse power can it make?

I was wondering how much horse power/torque can be made in a LS6 using a stock crank, rods, pistons and without supercharging, turbo or spray? Basically a normally aspirated engine. Does anyone have any builds they can share?

TT

Might be able to find a couple builds similar to what your asking on here.

Judging off my *** dyno I'd say 440-460rwhp?

Just curious but what's chris1313 have for a setup? That's freaking impressive! Especially on a stingy *** auto! I'm a hardcore n/a guy myself bc it takes a lot more skill (and $ lol) to have 500rwhp n/a bc that would be EASY with blower/turbo/n2o....

^^ check out 11/11 GMHTP magazine, chris's car is in there, i read it like 5 times!

Tsquared..dont be overally consumed with h.p., generally its a good guage but other factors come in if ur lookn 2 win at the track as well..quick example; u can have X amount of h.p., like some guys but cant utilize it because it wont hook, suspension isnt right, body twist , running tall rims short sidewall tire etc...guess u have to explain ur goals? if u want bragging rights as a dyno queen ..thats fine..btw if gotta alot of dow then by all means get the most outta that N/A build and do supporting mods to get it down the track..good luck!

BTW ..Y is it alotta people join this site and dont search other builds/accomplishments/failures etc b4 they post...

In the book written by Will Handzel "How to build LS1/LS6" who was the man in charge of GM's Performance Division, He states the limit for the stock bottom end is 530hp. After that it's just hanging on by a thread and a prayer. He says it's best to go with forged internals for big horsepower. BUT a lot of time has gone by since then and many guys have run more horsepower on stock bottom ends and been OK, while others have tried and grenaded.

I love NA and don't care for adders, and I've decided to leave it at about 500hp and enjoy it. Of course later in a year or two I'll be going forged bottom end and 630hp on a NA engine. But that's a dream shared by many of us.

Hell yea that's why the lsx 454 motor is so badass...it's like the holy grail of NA
