Default Huge issue!!!

So last night while doing my h/c swap I accidently dropped the oil pan pick up fube bolt into the pan. I had pliers and a magnet on it and it still fell in. is there anyway you guys know to get it out of the pan? I know im that guy now. But just want to resolve it. Any help would be great. Thanks!

Try one of those magnets on the end of a flexable shaft.

Other than fishing with a magnet theres no easy way.

But next time try stuffing the pan full of rags so the bolt doesn't have far to fall.

i agree. it's not going to be easy but this is your best bet. you could also try to find a really strong magnet and run it along the bottom outside of the pan and see if you can work it out that way.

Can you jack the car where the back end is higher than the front, maybe the bolt will roll to the front and you can fish it out with the pen magnet after that.

they do make magnets that have a flexable shaft. this way you will be able to get the head of it where you want inside the pan.

I'll hve to try all these I dont think it will come out the drain plug but maybe out the sensor in the side of the pan. This is just going to take a lot of patience.

i had to use a flexible magnet and got lucky, after that i tied a long thread to the bolt incase i dropped it again, which i did several times but the thread made it very easy to just fish back out. once i got it started pretty good i just snipped the thread and finished tightening the bolt. good luck, it just takes alot of time and patience

Well after 40 minutes and a high powered magnet I dragged the bolt through the senor hole. Worked good. Magnet had enough power so i could drag it on the outside of the pan and up the side to the hole. I also forgot to tell you guys I got a 10mm socket dropped down there too so got them both out through the sensor hole but the socket was a tight fit. Thank god for all that lub on there!!!
