Has anyone painted or polished their PCM? It looks like it comes apart in two pieces but I'm afraid to take it apart and ruin it.

Painted mine. There are four screws, I think. Undo them...carefully pry apart the two outside shell pieces. Then the printed circuit bd(s) & connectors are set aside.
Not a big deal. Just be careful with the wiring and circuit bds.

That is what I wanted to hear. Thanks, now I need to decide ..paint or polish?

Wanted to add that you can go a safer & quicker way.
If you decide to paint, just tape off the connectors with blue paint tape, then use a spray can. If I did it over, I'd opt for this. It's so much easier.
My ECM is in the glovebox, so no one will see it but me!
