My Heads/Cam build
Hey guys, I just wanted to share my build im going to be doing here real soon. And I wanted to see if there is anything I left out.
Advanced Induction 243 cnc heads and a camshaft package226*/234* .600/.600-Whatever head bolts AI recommends
Deluxe gasket kit from TSP
Rear main seal(mines leaking like no other)
Oil pan gasket( again my car leaks, 120k on the clock)
LS2 Timing chain(when upgrading do you have to buy a new timing set, or is it recommneded?)
LS7 lifters
LS2 lifter trays
FAST 36lb Injectors
Melling oil pump(high pressure or high volume?)
Katech rod bolts( Im on the fence with this upgrade, some people see its definetly worth while. While others say its not. Its a street car and will rarely see the track.)
So what do you guys think? All together with my dad my uncle and me, plus the tune and all the parts with us doing the labor. It should cost around 5k. What do you guys think?

My main questions were about the timing chain set, the oil pumps, high pressure or high volume and whether to do the katech rod bolts. Im pulling the motor for this job to replace the oil pan gasket anyways so all of it would be right there. Im open to ANY advice from the pros!

I didn't think heads and cam would require a fuel pump upgrade? Just the injectors. And honestly on the street I will never be shifting past 6.5k

Why such a wide split on the cam duration when you heads and exhaust will have good flow? I think you'd make better power with a single pattern cam, or one with a very small split.
Have you considered the AI 226/230 ?

I have seen alot of people get good results with the 226/234 cam. I see your point though. Im not sure if it would be better off going that route.

Your set up sounds really good this is the exact set up I want. I'm just trying to slowly accumulate the parts for cheap and then install all together. It can be very expensive! Good luck

After reading everything over from AI. I decided to end up going with Texas speeds stage 2.5 LS6 heads and cam combo with the 228r on a 112LSA. Main reason to switch was that the package with AI was about $600 bones higher for their package with their 226/234 cam. Honestly the packages are damn near the same with AI's being slighty more peak power cause of the longer duration but $600 bucks for maybe 5-10rwhp? Nope you can count me out!
