2007 lq4 build
i am putting a 2007 lq4 into my 2002 silverado.
my biggest question is can i use this 1998 ls1 front and rear timing cover on it? my truck is 24x and the engine is 58x so i will need the converter box. i just need to know what to look for.
i just have the shortblock that i am building. it had a spun main and rod bearing so i am rebuilding it.
list so far
arp rod bolts
comp ls2 timing chain
new melling lifters
lifter trays
custom cam from lloyd elliott 224/230 .605 115ish
lunati dual valve springs
ported 806 ls1 perimeter bolt heads
44lb delphi injectors
coated callies mmain and rod bearings
stock pushrods and rockers
5.3 intake manifold
any tips?

All LQ4's have 24x reluctor wheels. Did you verify you have a 58x, or just assuming since it's a post '04 engine? Lq4 blocks are basic gen III block's throughout all their years, the cam sensor is in the back just like a gen III ls1. My LQ4 came out of an '07 hummer, I should know.

To the OP. Since you have it out for a rebuild...a couple things I'd recommend. Hone out the rod ends .002 with the arp bolts in there to get the proper roundness and try and find some good/used ls2 pistons and have the machine shop install them/re-balance the crank. You'll be fighting a losing battle trying to make good hp with dished pistons and being n/a. I'm planning to one day have f/i on my car, so having the dished piston was ok for me.
